It was wonderful to welcome Year 1 to the Year 2 classroom today. We shared a story about a little boy using his imagination and the children created some really impressive drawings in their brand new “Busy Books”. The children asked some really sensible questions about what life in the “Top Infants” will be like. I know they are going to be excellent role models for the younger pupils.
I reminded the children about the need to be on time for Early Work each day, reading at home every night and learning weekly spellings. They were surprised to find that the spelling test will consist of 20 words each week now!
Remember the Summer Reading Challenge begins at Stevenage Library this week. This is brilliant preparation for the new school year and keeps those reading levels up.
I am excited about the new academic year and the opportunity to work with such a super group. I look forward to creating a partnership with those parents I have not met before and continuing a partnership with those families who have children I have taught in the past. Have a wonderful Summer. See you in September!
