We have had great fun celebrating and learning about Diwali, Festival of Lights.
Our fine motor skills have been strengthened through moulding clay into a Diya lamp, chalking rangoli patterns on the ground to welcome visitors and designing mendhi patterns on our handprints. We have experimented with different types of media and materials: clay, chalk, pastels, charcoal, paint and a variety of paintbrushes to compare effects.
We have practised our listening skills in Phonics by copying Diwali celebration music on the outdoor sound wall and tapping out rhythms with a variety of beaters.
In Maths we used rangoli mats to copy, continue and create repeating patterns and revise our knowledge of 2d shapes.
Today we finished the week with a preparatory RE session for SHINE Week, discussing how important light is and creating our very own class candle!
