This morning Year 6 took part in The British Red Cross’ activity about refugees. They were put into families and then they allocated various roles to each family member. They had to imagine they were refugees leaving conflict and some family members behind. Each family was given 400 citizen credits and they had to decide which items they were going to bid for in the auction. The items included a mobile phone, photographs, clean water, food, clothes and shelter. The children worked incredibly well as a family and gave some excellent reasons to explain why they tried to bid for some items but not others. Once the auction took place they collaborated to make any last minute adjustments to their bids to ensure they were able to buy their preferred items.
