A Super Busy Week in Year 2

IMG_2253In this month of May we have been learning to say the “Hail Mary”.  We are learning about Mary and how to pray The Rosary.

The children in Year 2 have worked really hard this week.  Lots of us are enjoying using pen for our written tasks.  Pens for everyone from next week Year 2, your handwriting is excellent now!

Our class novel is “Fantastic Mr. Fox”.  We did some research about Foxes this week and considered the dreadful situation Mr. Fox found himself in.  We thought about how resilient and resourceful he needed to be and related this to our learning behaviours!

We have been concentrating hard to show our comprehension skills with some challenging texts this week.  The children are brilliant at looking back to the text to find the evidence they need to answer questions.

It is great to see so many of the children independently using reported speech in their writing now. Your stories are very entertaining Year 2.  I love reading them.

In our Maths this week we have been improving our time telling skills.  Don’t forget you are allowed to wear a simple watch to school now if you wish.  This will really help you as you will no doubt refer to it often throughout the day!

In RE this week we have been thinking about how the disciples carried on without Jesus. We thought about the times when Jesus visited the disciples after the Resurrection and how Jesus showed himself in the breaking of bread.

Today we had a fabulous morning working outside with Mrs. W. We found lots of insects down the wiggly path.
